The new trend is to have “polo on my body”(Lyrics from “Swag Surfing”). Polo has long stood as a sign of class and a brand that sets itself apart from others with its quality materials and its traditional color ways but, a lot of alternate or fake polo brands have recently come out and they have gained a few followers. The brands feature similar logos and comparable color ways. In a recent heated discussion after a discovery of a few “Polo ASSN” shirts mixed in with Ralph Lauren shirts in one of my constituent’s closet. What’s the general consensus on this topic? Can one claim to be a polo wearer or a member of the polo royal family (“Polo King” or “Prince of Polo”) if he owns and wears such things. A few evolved in this debate saw it as a sign of disrespect to the brand but some saw it only as more polo shirts and whether its Ralph Lauren, POLO ASSN, or the infamous Beverly Hills Polo Club it all was the same and added to the persons collection of “Polos”. Me personally if you haven’t ever seen it at dullards in the polo section it’s probably not polo. Polo is to be loved not drug trough the mud and compared to these other collared shirts. It upsets me when I see people claim high status because of the amount of polo only to find out its not POLO! Hold me down and let me know how yall feel on the situations above…
